Anoush is a professional dance artist, instructor and entertainer, serving cities across Southern California. Her affinity for and love of the arts began when Anoush was a young child. Her mother encouraged her to embrace her Basque heritage and pursue the art of dance. Her study of gymnastics, ballet folklorico, and tap has contributed to her innovative, yet classic style of Middle Eastern dance. In addition, her attendance of USA Dance Camp during her formative years allowed her the opportunity to train in dance technique and choreography with master dance instructors. The exceptional training Anoush received afforded her many opportunities to compete in local dance competitions. As a teenager, Anoush became an accomplished majorette.
After a hiatus from her study of dance, Anoush was introduced to belly dance at Caspian Restaurant in Irvine, CA; she has been a student of Modern Egyptian Cabaret and Folkloric dance for nearly 13 years. Anoush has studied with supportive dance coaches including Fahtiem, Aradia, and Zahra Zuhair. She has also attended intensive workshops hosted by Amir Thaleb, Virginia, Nourhan Sharif, Angelika Nemeth, and many more. In addition, she has earned dance certifications through Egypt’s most prestigious dance schools owned by world reknowned dance artists Aida Nour and Raqia Hassan. Having also participated in the production of numerous belly dance DVD’s, Anoush has an appreciation for communicating the instruction of dance at a basic level.
As an entertainer, Anoush performs in troupes, as well as solo. She is a principal dancer for Sultan’s Delites and Amar Dancers, and is the director of the Taheima Dancers. Individually Anoush travels throughout the US, Mexico, and Egypt to participate in esteemed workshops and performances hosted by venerated figures of the belly dance community.
Currently Anoush offers several belly dance classes catering to dancers with varying levels of experience. For those students aspiring to enhance their dance technique and skills, Anoush also offers advanced choreography and performance classes.
